Pique-Nique (St.Catharines, ON)

Pique-Nique or Picnic?

The answer is both! If you are looking for a brunch spot in St. Catharines, you may want to check out Pique-Nique, located on Russell Ave.

Pique-Nique is a French brunch café and wine bar that focuses on using local farmers' ingredients in the Niagara region. With a bright and spacious outdoor seating area, you can catch lots of locals enjoying a cup of coffee under the sun. The interior is a mixture of modern and European styles, with some close seating and tables that can be hard to squeeze in during peak hours.

Pique-Nique uses traditional techniques to craft its dishes, aiming to fit right in your picnic basket. Their in-house artisan breads are extremely well-made. Both dishes were fresh and had a balanced taste. The portion is quite picnic-sized; therefore, this might not fill you up entirely.

Small store but mighty. WHISK by Avo & Co. provides superb ceremonial matcha in Niagara-on-the-Lake! While Avo & Co. specializes in poké bowls, their new store - WHISK, focuses on offering refreshing beverages such as matcha lattes, smoothies, and smoothie bowls.  Sharing the store with Craig's Cookies in the historic town, WHISK by Avo & Co. still stands out with their simple but tasty drinks.  Strawberry matcha latte (left), Earl Grey matcha latte (right) Personal Ratings Space: N/A (no seating) Service: 8/10 Beverage: 8.5/10

Brewing since 1999 - The Merchant Ale House

Looking for a beer place in the Niagara region? Check out The Merchant Ale House! Located at 98 St Paul St, St. Catharines, ON, "The Merch" is where I would head to for their in-house blueberry beer and a messy handheld sandwich.  Reuben sandwich (front), Double patty cheeseburger (back) This may be off topic, but their beet salad is also incredible. I have never missed ordering the beet salad as a side dish whenever I go to The Merchant Ale House. They have a few TVs all around the spot if you are a sports fan. There is a dart board if you would like to compete with your friends. It does get quite crowded during peak seasons; however, it is worth stopping by. It is also worth mentioning that they have more tables and chairs in the basement, which is pretty cool to see some barrels and the brewing machine if you would like to check that out.  Service? Attentive and friendly. Price? Reasonable. Will I come back? Yes. I have been coming back here at least 4 times now. Suns...
